Welcome to Egremont Medical Centre
With patients' needs at the heart of everything we do, our website has been designed to make it easy for you to gain instant access to the information you need. As well as specific practice details such as opening hours and how to register, you’ll find a wealth of useful pages covering a wide range of health issues along with links to other relevant medical organisations.
Get Well, Keep Well
Of course we’re not just here for when you are unwell. Our team of healthcare professionals and back-up staff offer a number of clinics and services to promote good health and wellbeing whatever your medical condition.
We hope you enjoy having a look around the site and familiarising yourself with some of the online features such as ordering a repeat prescription. Whatever your thoughts, be sure to let us know via our feedback function. Comments and suggestions are always a great way of helping us continue to enhance the way we look after you.
Named GP For All Patients
All practices are now required to provide their patients (including children) with a named GP who will have overall responsibility for the care and support that the surgery provides to them.
At the Egremont Medical Centre all patients are registered to the Practice rather than an individual GP. This does not change the fact that you can see any GP in the practice as you currently do. When you need to see a GP, normal booking procedures will apply.
If you want to know who your named GP is please feel free to ask at Reception and we will be happy to inform you.
Changes at Egremont from April
We are delighted to announce that from this April, Egremont Medical Centre will be joining the TCG Medical Services group of practices. The practices in this group work independently but benefit from the ability to offer a wider range of services to their patients. These include improved access to practice services outside of the usual practice hours and an enhanced minor surgery service. The Practice will move back to offering in practice phlebotomy services later in the year. In addition to these new services the practice will still offer the same high standard of patient care that has always been available at Egremont Medical Centre.
TCG Medical have a long history of innovation and have been instrumental in the transformation of several Practices in Wirral. They recently were commended by CQC as outstanding for the work with a nearby Practice. In choosing TCG Medical we wanted to ensure that patients benefit from the range and efficiency of services that can be developed over time at Egremont. TCG is lead by GP’s, Consultant Doctors, Legal and Business experts.
For more information please see the frequently asked questions below:
Will I still be able to get an appointment?
Appointments will still be offered on both a pre-bookable and on the day basis. We hope in time to be able to offer a ‘Walk In’ service for those patients with urgent problems. There will be increased access for patients due to more appointments being offered than is currently the case. TCG project changes to be visible in access by as early as June/July after recruitment drive for more clinicians is completed by them.
Will the phone number change?
No. Our phone numbers remain the same. The practice can be contacted on 0151 639 0777 or 0151 639 6999.
Will I still be able to see the same GPs and Nurses?
Our current nursing staff will not change but there will be new members joining the nursing team. For personal reasons Dr Patrick and Dr Sowery will be leaving the practice. Dr Saravanan will remain at the practice. New, permanent doctors including Dr. Anup Sarkar, Dr. Navaid Alam, Dr. Hammad Khan and Nurse Consultant Laurie Taylor and Liz Charles will be starting in April to ensure continuity of care.
Will the reception staff be changing?
No. You will still be greeted and assisted by the same staff in Reception.
Why is this happening at short notice?
The process of Egremont Medical Centre joining TCG Medical Services has taken time and negotiation to ensure that it is right for patients. If we delayed this process then patients would have to wait to access the improved services mentioned above. There was also the risk of the Practice being unable to continue which we have managed to avoid by joining forces and having the additional resources.
